Before You Begin: Safety Protocol
- Scan the entire drilling area with the Bosch detector to confirm zero hidden electrical conduits or water pipes.
- Check your TV's VESA rating (mm distance between the 4 rear threaded holes, e.g. 400x400mm).
- Calculate viewing height: the screen center should align at 100 cm - 105 cm from floor level for relaxed sofa viewing without neck strain.
📦 Materials Required
- ✓ 1x TV wall mount bracket (Fixed, Tilt or Articulated) with VESA bolt hardware kit
- ✓ 4x Heavy-duty Fischer Duopower 10x50mm wall plugs
- ✓ 4x M8 x 70mm zinc-plated hex head lag bolts with washers
- ✓ 1x Self-adhesive 40mm surface cable trunking track
- ✓ 1x Set of plastic TV rear clearance spacers
🛠️ Recommended Tools
- 🔧 Professional hammer drill with 8mm & 10mm carbide masonry bits
- 🔧 Digital wire, pipe & stud detector scanner (Bosch Truvo / GMS 120)
- 🔧 30 cm magnetic spirit level
- 🔧 Ratchet wrench with 13mm socket for hex lag bolts
- 🔧 5m steel measuring tape & carpenter pencil
- 🔧 Painter masking tape for clear wall marking
📋 Step-by-Step Project Guide
1. Attaching VESA rails to the rear of the TV
Lay TV face down on a soft blanket. Select M4, M6 or M8 bolts that thread smoothly without bottoming out inside the TV chassis. Insert plastic spacers if the TV back features curved ridges.
NEVER force a bolt that is too long into the rear of the TV; you risk puncturing internal OLED/LCD screen boards.
2. Height calculation & wall plate marking
Position the wall plate frame against the wall. Place your magnetic level on top. Mark 4 drill points at the outer corner slots to distribute load evenly.
Stick strips of painter masking tape on the wall before drawing pencil marks to avoid smudging wall paint.
3. Drilling & Fischer Duopower plug insertion
Drill 4 holes at 10mm diameter by 60mm deep. On hollow block walls (common in Tenerife), drill at steady RPM without excessive hammer force to keep block webs solid. Push Fischer Duopower 10x50mm plugs flush.
Blow out brick dust from drilled holes before inserting plugs to maximize nylon friction grip.
4. Wall plate mounting with M8 hex lag bolts
Align wall frame. Insert 4 M8x70mm hex lag bolts with flat washers and drive them firmly using a 13mm socket wrench until the plate locks solid against the wall.
Complete final turns by hand wrench to feel the plug lock solid without stripping the block masonry.
5. Hanging TV, safety locking & clean cable trunking
With 2 people, lift the TV and hook rear rails onto the wall frame. Tighten bottom safety locking screws to prevent displacement. Route HDMI and power cables through surface trunking track.
Ensure bottom safety screws or spring latches engage completely before releasing your grip on the TV.

🧱 Wall Anchor Selection Guide for Tenerife
Hollow Concrete Block (Tenerife living room wall)
Recommended Plug: Fischer Duopower 10x50mm plug + M8x70mm hex lag bolt
💡 AVOID metallic wedge drop-in anchors as they shatter hollow block walls. Use bi-component polyamide knotting plugs.
Plasterboard / Drywall
Recommended Plug: M6 metal toggle bolt or Fischer DuoTec 12 toggle for large TVs
💡 For full-motion articulated arms on drywall, securing the baseplate into vertical steel studs is MANDATORY.
🧹 Maintenance & Aftercare Tips
- Inspect articulating arm pivot friction tension every 6 months if swivelling daily.
- Leave ample slack in HDMI cables so swivelling the mount does not strain TV ports.
❓ Frequently Asked Installation Questions
Q: Can a 65 or 75 inch TV be wall-mounted on a plasterboard wall in Tenerife?
A: Yes, provided a fixed/tilt mount is selected (not long full-motion arms) and the wall plate is anchored into 2 vertical steel studs using 4 Fischer DuoTec 12 toggle anchors.
Q: What exact height should a living room TV be mounted at?
A: The geometric center of the TV screen should line up with eye level when seated on the couch, which equals roughly 100 cm - 105 cm from floor level.
