Before You Begin: Safety Protocol
- Clear a floor space of at least 3x2 meters and lay down protective blankets to avoid scuffing panels or floor tiles.
- Check hardware bags and group components (Minifix cam locks, steel studs, wooden dowels, and hardboard nails).
- Measure ceiling height: for 236 cm tall PAX wardrobes, assemble standing upright if ceiling is under 244 cm.

- 🔧 Cordless drill screwdriver with adjustable torque clutch (set to 1.5 Nm)

📋 Step-by-Step Project Guide
1. Frame assembly using wooden dowels & Minifix cam locks
Insert wooden dowels into alignment holes. Thread steel cam studs into side panels without over-tightening into particle board. Join base and top panels, then turn cam locks 180° clockwise with a Pozidriv PZ2 bit until locked.
Watch your screwdriver bit! IKEA cam locks are Pozidriv, NOT standard Philips (PH). Using a PH2 bit strips the cam head. ALWAYS use Pozidriv PZ2.
2. Diagonal X-square alignment & rear hardboard nailing
Measure corner-to-corner X diagonals using a tape measure (both numbers must be identical to guarantee a true 90° right angle). Nail perimeter hardboard nails every 10 cm.
The nailed rear backing board provides 80% of structural rigidity. Without proper nailing, the frame will sway side-to-side.
3. Precision levelling using plastic base shims
Stand the furniture up and position it against the wall. Place your 60 cm spirit level on top and sides. If floors slope, slide hard plastic shims under base corners until level bubble centers.
NEVER attempt to align wardrobe doors before levelling the base against the floor; doors can never align if the carcass is twisted.
4. Mandatory safety anti-tip wall anchoring
Scan the rear wall with a Bosch detector to avoid pipes/wires. Drill 8mm holes. Insert Fischer Duopower 8x40mm plugs and drive lag screws through IKEA safety wall brackets.
Anti-tip wall mounting is MANDATORY for child safety to prevent fatal tip-over accidents if drawers are extended.
5. Door fitting & 3D hinge tuning (Komplement)
Snap hinges onto frame mounting plates. Tune the 3 adjustment screws: front screw adjusts left/right gap overlay, middle screw tunes flush depth against frame, and plate screws move height vertically.
Make small half-turn screw adjustments on top and bottom hinges alternately until door reveal gaps become completely parallel.
